Last year, Instagram added a new feature to connect online shoppers to product drops inside the app at the top of the Shop tab, where consumers will be able to discover, browse and shop all the latest product releases as well as view upcoming styles.
Users also can sign up to receive reminders about the products they are interested in and can have a look at other products and collections on other people’s posts that recently took place on Instagram and now the platform is releasing an update that is going to enable all the users to tag other on their IG feed posts as part of its continued focus on expanding its eCommerce listings starting with users in the US.
Originally the feature is only available to the approved creators but now Instagram is giving everyone the ability to give a direct link to products and brands in their uploads/posts.
The platform announced the update by saying “Scored a new pair of earrings from a small business you love? Tag the product in your Feed post so your friends and followers can learn more about the earnings and shop them!! People come to Instagram to share and discover trends and inspiration. Product tagging will make it possible for anyone to support their favorite small businesses, share how they styled their looks along with the products they used, and more.”
This could provide a major boost to the brands inside the app and the most fun part of this is it’s totally free while also assembling upon Instagram’s eCommerce focus and evolving the user’s behavior within the app. At the same time, the Business owners will get to receive a notification when someone tags one of their products, and they will also be able to view all tagged content in their profile.
